Bridging the Distance

The sad reality many face when they struggle to mobilise, unable to travel or unable to co-ordinate social events means that loneliness and loss of relationships has a significant impact on peoples wellbeing. Here's just a few ideas to help limit that isolation.

Alexa can help people stay connected with their loved ones in simple and accessible ways. By:

  • Make voice or video calls using Alexa-to-Alexa calling
  • Send voice messages easily without needing to type.
  • Drop In on close family members, like an intercom, you can check in without waiting for someone to answer.
  • Set reminders to call loved ones,
  • Listen together to music or audiobooks with family members through shared listening features, creating shared moments even at a distance

You can attach a camera on to a tv where only people added to your contact can video call. If you have a hearing impairment it also add's subtitles on the screen. Calls are automatically answered so there's no fiddly bits! These come at a one off cost!

One of my own favourites is Scrabble GO on the App Store on my phone.  So it's definitely worth searching the App Store on mobile devices together to find games you can play together, anywhere!
