Products that help allow you to stabilise and mobilise safely around your home

Wheeled Trolley

There are a variety of walking frames - some come with baskets and a padded cushion you can use as a seat if you get tired. Or you can get ones with trays to help transfer drinks and food for those who struggle to manage balance whilst carrying objects,

Anti-slip rugs

Rug Grippers

Rugs are great decorative pieces and can help some walker aids have more grip. However, they can be slip/grip hazards within themselves. There are a few solutions out there to try to reduce the risk!

There are a whole range of anti slip socks out there! If you have limited mobility or have a fear of falling it's worth investing into some anti-slip socks to prevent any accidental slips!

Sensor lights for safety

Sensored lights

When walking to the bathroom, during the night sometimes the darkness can cause us to trip/fall and be unstable. To prevent this you can look at sensor or plug in hallway lights.

Sometimes transfers from chairs or bed are easier if they are higher as less pressure and energy is required from your legs/knees.

Smart Lighting

Walking to get the light switch may cause you to get up/walk unnecessarily and sometimes you may not be able to get up at all - so smart light switches are great as you can control them from your phone. If you re struggling to use the app for these you can ask a friend/family member to have the app to either set a regular time they come on or switch it one or off when you contact them.

Air tags are great to put into something that a person usually wears on a regular basis.  Ex. if a person has dementia but they never leave without there bag then this a perfect place to use. (Please be mindful the person should consent to use of these unless they are unable to due to cognitive impairment - in which case should be used as a tracker only when there is a genuine cause for concern)

Although should be used either with the persons permission or as a last resort and in the least invasive way  for someone who is unable to consent - indoor camera's are great to keep eye on things going on inside the home (Falls, whether they are eating, drinking etc.)

Video Door Bells

Video doorbells are great to allow you to see who is at the door before answering. It also provide security footage if you subscribe to the app services. This can be done from your own phone or a friend/family you trust to screen who comes to your door.

Worried that your loved one will take too much medication or the incorrect medication? Then a lock box may be your solution. Person's consent should be obtained first before using or be assured to be used in the persons best interest if they can't consent.
